Helping lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer adults share their stories of resilience at every school nationwide.

About Back To Your School

Every LGBTQ kid in America (whether they know it yet or not) needs a LGBTQ adult to stand in front of them as incontrovertible proof that a good life is possible and waiting for them. You know the town you came from and the people that live there. You walked the same elementary and middle school hallways as these kids. You remember what it feels like on your college campus. You, who came from right where they are, have built a life that you’re proud to live, and they need to hear it from you. Go back to your school.

Back To Your School is a national movement of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer adults who are taking responsibility for ensuring that the schools they attended are taking good care of the LGBTQ and questioning youth that come after us.

I am straight but not narrow. Many of my best friends, colleagues and people I greatly appreciate, love and admire are LGBTQ and I am proud of this. It hurts my heart to know that in this day and age so many of us have access to so much information and yet we chose to not learn. Situations like the ones mentioned, the last 4 victims of our blindness and many others we don’t even know about are going on right under our noses everyday. Does it take an epidemic of deaths to do something to help our youth????I have 3 kids and they know that in our home all are welcome, we celebrate differences, unity in diversity and encourage positive self expression. I feel for the parents who lost their babies to this sudden, widespread undesirable occurrence. I will contact my schools and Universities and ask what are they doing to make our schools safe for ALL… as a parent, as an alumni, as a caring human. Thank you all for doing this, I will spread the word.
